Event Super1 Round 6 First Practise
Round 6 of the British Championship was held at Buckmore Park in Kent. First practise went well as we stuck with old rubber all day, achieving a time under the lap record and only a tenth down on my teammate who was on new rubber with a 41.16. Consistently being fast although Will was pretty fired up the whole weekend.
Date 3rd -
Event Super1 Round 6 Second Practise and raceday
Saturday had weather like on Friday however all of us were slower than on Friday, we were 2 tenths down on yesterday however I was still confident for the heats.
For the 1st heat, I started 9th and made a steady start eventually coming up to 4th
place after Cavan Corocran made a stern defense which took me ages to pass him. I
ended up 3rd in that heat with other championship contender Will winning the heat.
I would need to beat Will by 8 points in the remaining races to win the championship,
but this was going to be hard, as Will was very fast.
Heat 2 on the Sunday, I started
3rd, had a good start and took the lead, Will caught me on the 7th lap and we had
a hard dice for the lead, he eventually got past after I received a warning flag
for ‘weaving’ and had to let him by or risk an exclusion. I stuck to his bumper like
glue for the rest of the heat, coming home 2nd with him winning the race.

Heat 3 I started 4th, with Max and Will my two teammates 1st and 2nd, we immediately ran off into a race of our own with us 3 setting identical lap times each lap basically on each others bumpers, so close that if one of us made a move we would’ve all been out. I finished 3rd with Max 2nd and Will 1st. All 3 of us seperated by 0.26s at the line, very close finish. I set a 41.08 the quickest of us 3.
Heat 4 I started 7th and made a quick start getting up to 5th, but as I was chasing
4th place of C plate, me and Wil had a bit of rubbing forcing me wide, I tapped the
barrier which caused the stub axle bearing to disinter grate, I managed to struggle
home 5th.
The results of these heats meant I was 2nd on the grid next to Will on pole.
I had to win and for him to come 9th or lower to win the championship so I really
had minimal chance, so I was pretty relaxed going into the final, wanting to go out
of juniors on a high.
The final however started bad, on the outside in turn 1 is always bad and as I took the lead at the start I was punted sideways falling to 6th place, I took 5th back immediately and got on the tail of the fight for the lead, on lap 2 though, Max’s axle snapped causing the whole pack to bunch up and unfortunately cause an accident between me and no.10, I had no where to go and the collision was completly unintentional, it left me in last place, giving no real chance for the championship, anyway I got my head down setting fastest lap again and again tearing up to 4th at the flag, just 0.1 seconds off 2nd place. Setting a 40.99 lap time. I was disappointed with not getting a trophy after a great comeback drive and for my last in juniors, however I did manage to get 2nd in the British championship , Will won the race and the championship after driving ace all weekend, well done mate :) I now am looking forward to my first Senior race at the Kartmasters Grand Prix on the 31st October and to the presentation for this years prizes in the Junior British Championships in January. Overall it was a good season espeically after such an unlucky start, to being able to take the championship to the last race, I might have won the championship with out one little misjudgement at the start of the season looking back, but things like that happen in racing :) I will be back stronger again next year for Seniors . :D
